Section 511 - Election Procedures: Eligibility

511.1 - Payroll Period
To be eligible to vote in an election, an employee shall have been employed in the bargaining unit during the payroll period immediately prior to the date on which the Board ordered the election, and shall still be employed in the bargaining unit on the date of the election. A list of employees eligible to vote in the election will be provided to designated election officials.



511.2 - Runoff Elections
To be eligible to vote in a runoff election, an employee shall have been eligible to vote in the original election and still be employed in the bargaining unit on the date of the runoff.



511.3 - Challenges - Voter Identification
The Board's agent or any authorized observer may challenge the eligibility of any voter, and in so doing shall state the reason for the challenge. A voter whose identity has been challenged may establish his or her identity by showing any piece of identification acceptable to the Board's agent.



511.4 - Challenged Ballots - Procedures
A challenged ballot shall be placed in a "challenged ballot" envelope. The envelope shall be sealed by the Board's agent and initialed by the observers. The reason for the challenge and the voter's name shall be marked on the envelope and the envelope shall be placed in the ballot box.



511.5 - Resolution of Challenges
The Board's agent shall attempt to resolve ballot challenges before the ballots are counted.
